Inspired by Tom Balles

 “Fast” from all outside stimuli for a day or two.  Go without TV, movies, computer, music, and all reading material.  Spend time in reflection.  Take a walk outdoors and listen to the sounds of winter, and journal your observations about nature.

Another practice to take on this winter is to practice listening deeply to someone in your life.  Let all expectations go and listen quietly and newly to the speaker.  Notice what they are not saying.
