Welcome to Free Week at Awaken Wellness!  I am so excited about the fall session and inviting you to our beautiful studio space and to your own yoga practice.  
One of my favorite childhood memories is visiting my Great Aunt Peepsie’s home in Hinton, WVA.  Sitting in the backseat of the car with my younger brother, my family would make the long seven hour trip over curvy country roads.  As the mountains grew taller out my car window I knew that we were getting close. We loved arriving.  

My Great Aunt Peepsie’s voice with her southern drawl was like warm butter coating everything in a warm glow.  She wrapped her arms around us in a bear hug that felt just right; her eyes sparkling behind her glasses. There was an energy in the room radiating from her, connecting directly to us. It felt like my brother and I were the only thing in her world that mattered.  The attention she gave to us; her undivided focus and listening presence is something that I have never forgotten.  
Yoga gives us the opportunity to welcome ourselves to our practice.  
No really… stop and think about how you can be welcoming to yourself.  Listen. Be fully attentive to your body, and to the space that you occupy.  When we listen, really listen, we deeply connect to our true center and move with more ease in our body and our lives.
Welcome all of yourself to your practice.  Welcome your strong bones and muscles, as well as your weaker parts and your aches.  Welcome your whole self with your whole heart.
