Reshape Your Body, Reshape Your Mind

Hello everyone,

This week we build on our last class, engaging through our core to help center and stabilize our poses as we expand and open our heart space.

I recently watched the TED talk, Amy Cuddy: Your body language shapes who you are,

One premise of the talk is that how we hold and move our body can change our thoughts, feelings and even our physiology. Cuddy found that people who held themselves in a more open way and took up more space also had more confidence and felt more vibrant compared to others who took up less space.

Yoga poses give us the opportunity to expand and open. This week we explore poses like Warrior I and Warrior II, orienting from the back body in order to open and expand out from the heart.  As we open and expand we stretch the often tight muscles of the chest and strengthen the muscles of the back. As we open, our body may also affect our mind- leaving us feeling lighter, more vibrant and less stressed.

Stabilize your core, open your heart and  receive the gift of each moment.
