I recently read a post in Daily Good about  “4 Ways to Be More Present in Travel.”

It also got me thinking about how being more present in travel might apply to our yoga practice. This week we take a journey towards the challenging Revolved Triangle Pose (Parivrtta Trikonasana) and implement ways to be more present in travel into our practice. 

According to the post, the 2nd way to be more present is to have a destination in mind to allow “productive” wandering. 

This rule is great because it gives us a path to meander along but allows time to stop and smell the roses- exploring qualities and actions of our poses along the way.

This week we  explore ways to ground our back foot and fire up the back leg to bring more stability to our poses and more skill to aligning and engaging the hips and core on our way toward revolved triangle. 

Sometimes the most satisfying moments in yoga and travel are the little things that happen along the way to our destination.

Immerse yourself in your practice and be open to what you find. Maybe more balance, or a bit more space to twist into, maybe the sweetness of lengthening through the spine while feeling buoyant and rooted simultaneously- or maybe moments of strength, clarity and ease. 

Pause long enough to lean into the moments, like a mountain climber leans into the rocks, reading the crevices and textures with his hands. 

Whether you get to the final pose or not, give yourself the freedom to explore and ask yourself, “Were you present for the journey? Did you take time to pause? Did you enjoy the ride?”
